Bulk Billed Eye Test Melbourne & Greater Geelong
Bulk Billed eye exam
Our consultations involve much more than just prescribing spectacles or fitting contact lenses. Our number one priority is YOU the patient. What makes us different is we are locally owned, ‘service oriented’ not ‘volume orientated’ and make sure every patient has first-class eyecare.
In our eye examinations, your optometrist will thoroughly assess your symptoms and eye health details. A detailed vision refraction will be performed using advanced technology and tailored to your needs.
Your Optometrist will perform a thorough examination to assess the health of the Anterior and Posterior eye. This will include checking of the eye pressure as well as a free Retinal photo of the Retina. Your optometrist will run through the management plan, treatment and review of your eyes based on the findings from all the tests.
We work alongside local medical practitioners, if you require any further care our optometrists can refer you to a specific specialist or liase with your GP. If further investigation by a GP or specific specialist is required, our optometrists can provide referrals where needed.
There are various health conditions that require more regular reviews and specific examinations (glaucoma, cataracts, and or diabetic patients). Your optometrist will arrange a suitable review schedule and organise reminder letters/messages for you too. In addition, we provide various specific eye examinations including Vic Roads testing, occupational testing and School screenings.

What is a bulk billed eye test?
At Spectacle Hub, we offer bulk billing on our eye tests, meaning that Medicare will pay for the total cost of your eye test. If you are a current Medicare cardholder, a comprehensive eye test can be bulk billed.
All our optometrists at Spectacle Hub are experienced and qualified to perform a thorough eye examination. The test aims to detect any diseases or conditions that could affect your eyesight, as early as possible. If you’re opting for one of our bulk billed eye tests, you don’t need to pay anything upfront. Still, you might need to pay for additional aids such as glasses, contact lenses or other treatments if your optometrist recommends these.

FAQs
We all do our best to avoid everyday eye strain, protecting our eyes from the sun with polarised sunglasses, avoiding screen time where possible, and investing in optical care when we need it. Regular eye checks are essential to maintaining good eye care, so it’s always a good idea to schedule regular checkups with your optometrist — check your glasses prescription, check for any eye damage, and take advantage of eye care services.
When you make a booking for an optical check-up with Spectacle Hub, you can expect a series of standard tests. These assess the strength of your vision and ascertain whether you may need a new glasses prescription, an updated one, or even one of our advanced eye care services. Our friendly optometrists will talk you through each test and help you make the best choice for your ongoing eye care.
Dry eyes can affect us all from time to time, and the causes can be varied. Sometimes, dust or other particulates in the air can make your eyes feel dry, and hayfever or allergies can also give this sensation. Dry eyes can also be a symptom of overtired eyes and strained vision, caused by too much screen time, doing work in insufficient light, or improper prescription strength.
Non-prescription eye drops can provide temporary relief for the symptoms of dry eyes. Still, if the problem is chronic, it’s best to see your optometrist about what eye care services are available to fix it in the long term. The problem may be as simple as fixing your current glasses prescription or indicative of a larger problem requiring more specialised care.
As part of our eye care services, we’ll calculate the right prescription for your eyes and provide guidance on what lenses are best for your lifestyle and type of work. Then, we’ll help you choose a style and fit of comfortable and stylish glasses. If you prefer, we can even discuss options for contact lenses, depending on your preference.
Designed for anyone with myopia — otherwise known as short-sightedness — Ortho-K lenses use a specially designed contact lens to correct the curvature of your eye overnight. Ortho-K lenses gently reshape your eye while you sleep, allowing you to go glasses-free during the day and enjoy your new, corrected vision.
